- And much more…Position Summary:Conemaugh Miners is seeking a
full-time Medical Laboratory Technician in Hastings, PA. The MLT
will performs a variety of waived, moderately complex, and highly
complex tests on patients of all ages as defined by CMS-2226-F: 42
CFR 493 Medicare, Medicaid, and CLIA programs, Interpretive
Guidelines for Laboratories, Appendix C, and Subpart M. Applies
principles, theories and techniques according to Laboratory
Practices and Procedures to produce accurate test results in Blood
Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, and
Microbiology.Essential Functions:Applies technical knowledge and
skills necessary to maintain procedural quality standards. Performs
department specific waived, moderately complex and high complexity
testing.Maintains and applies procedural knowledge necessary to
deliver efficient, uninterrupted service while reporting test
results within the specified time limits.Performs calibrations,
quality control, instrument function verification, scheduled
preventative maintenance and minor troubleshooting according to
section's procedure manual.Performs all clerical functions related
to job, and handle specimens as directed.Recognizes, confirms
and/or verifies test results that are unusual, delta failures or
verify failures as described in the procedure manuals and informs
the Medical Technologist or Laboratory Manager of all pertinent
issues and unresolved problems.Maintains professional skills,
participates in continuing education and provides appropriate care
to patients of all ages (neonates, infants, children, adolescents,
adults and geriatrics).Follows safety procedures and guidelines.
Reports unsafe practice or conditions to Manager.Follows basic
infection control practices and guidelines.Recommends opportunities
to improve quality and/or workflow and uses these innovative ideas
to develop new or improved processes or services.Maintains
effective and efficient use of reagents, chemicals and supplies
while assuring adequate inventory in all daily work areas.Draws
venous, arterial, capillary samples from patients according to
phlebotomy procedures and age-specific needs of the patient.
Maintains appropriate commitment to the department schedule in
terms of attendance and hours of work. Rotates all section shifts
and with adequate training, rotates between sections as
needed.Participates in continuing education as required.Other

Qualification:Education:Required: High school graduate and graduate
from a one-year medical laboratory or clinical laboratory training
program approved by the ABHES, CAHEA or other organization approved
by HHS.Preferred: Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology
and completion of a medical laboratory training or clinical
laboratory training program approved by ABHES or CAHEA or other
organizations approved by HHS.Experience:Preferred: One year of
clinical laboratory experience
preferred.Certification/Licensure/Registration:Required:
Certification with American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or
successful completion of certification within 12 months of
employment. BLS/CPR within 6 months of employmentSkills and
Abilities: Ability to meet patient age-specific needs.Ability to
follow procedures concisely and accurately at all times under the
direction of a Medical Technologist.Skilled at
communication.Ability to recognize problems and perform minor
problem solving.Ability to perform multiple tasks
simultaneously.Ability to successfully meet deadlines.Physical
Requirements:As defined by the physical requirements and working
conditions form maintained by the Occupational Health
